Many of you want to not only finish writing your dissertation, but you want it to be an award winning dissertation.
Dr. Lacy is sharing 3 tips she’s used with her clients to write award winning dissertations.
1. Have a vision that goes beyond yourself
Greatness requires vision. Having a vision means seeing the end goal and working back from there.
Think about who you are doing the work for, and what you want them to get out of your findings. Spend more time looking at the impact you want your work to have.
2. Be willing to be a student and take it one step at a time
There are no shortcuts, you have to work your way through the process.
Speed doesn’t mean that you’re better or smarter. You are learning how to do something for the first time. Be willing to make mistakes to get to the end goal.
3. Focusing on building meaningful relationships in your field
There is power in relationships. It is human nature to pass along opportunities and knowledge to your community first.
Make connections when you can so that people think of you. Awards are supposed to be anonymous and fair, but many times it comes down to who you know.
We hope these 3 tips have been helpful for you. Following this advice will get you closer to winning an award than hustling and grinding yourself down.
